Chanel’s Paris to Bombay Mixes East & West

When Chanel announced their Paris to Bombay collection last autumn, we were all wowed by the East meets rococo style.

We were less impressed they only used a couple South Asian models and even less impressed when their actual ad campaigns featured *no* South Asian models.

Talk about a slight of hand to our beautiful girls.

Sure enough Chanel has redeemed itself by putting together a spread in Harper’s Bazaar Arabia with Miss India model Kanishtha Dhankhar.

And stunning photos they are. Jeweled tikkas and dress shirts with ornate headpieces complete a luxurious fashion style.

Get the look:
Even if you cannot afford Lagerfeld’s collection, you can model your own designs. How about a pencil skirt with a colorful blouse and kundan set?

Or take a maxi dress, add jeweled heels and convert a necklace into a headpiece.

The idea is to mix western clothes with Indo jewelry. And think about it, we all have jeans and pants roaming our closets, how many times have we mixed them with jhumkas or bangles? Hardly ever I’m sure.

And now you can put your jewelry to good use!
