Celebrating 50 years, the jewelry company Shringar – House of Mangalsutra, displayed a fantastic show at the IIJW jewelry show in Mumbai last week. Called, “Kal Aaj Kaal”, “Yesterday Today Tomorrow”, the collection traced the three generations of the Thadeshwar family from Natubhai to son Chetan and to grandson Viraj by the brilliant sand artist Kaushik.
The presentation started with a selection of Mangalsutras with dual circle centers in gold and precious stones inspired by peacock and floral patterns. There were several mini collections presented.
The Ethnic collection had triple rows of beads and gems with deities pendants in the center.
The Junagadh collection had a few more styles of the peacock; while for the inspirations from Kolhapur was short Mangalsutras with gold beads.
When it came to the City of Joy, Kolkata, the mangalsutra had long gold chains with round or triangular centers.
The Premium section had an interesting star or floral shape with thin double chains.
Making a trendier offeringwas the Costume segment with an enamelled oval or floral styles.
The showstopper entry on the ramp was the Bollywood superstar Juhi Chawla in bridal regalia by Bharatis. Wearing double Mangalsutras – a short cord attached to a large version – there was no way one could miss her for being single.
The apparel collection was created by Vaishali Shadangule and Swapnil Shinde.
