Texas, here we come! Today we are featuring a gorgeous fusion wedding with a white dress and the red lengha. We heard from photographer Uma, of Studio Uma, of this beautiful wedding, and couldn’t pass up on it.
Uma shares her story as the woman behind the lens for this lovely weekend:
Laura and Nikhil had a beautiful fusion wedding at Rough Hollow Yacht Club near Austin, Texas. This waterfront venue overlooks Lake Travis, and the sunset over the hills was absolutely beautiful that day. Valerie Miller Events planned the event, and was, as always, detailed and amazing.
When Laura first contacted me, she explained how much she and Nikhil love natural light wedding photography. And how they were looking for photos that “tell a story” and capture real moments in a creative way. I knew it was a perfect fit! Although the couple lives in the Washington DC area, they opted to get married in Austin because of their ties to the area. Laura attended the University of Texas at Austin.
On Thursday, Laura and her family had their mehndi done at the Omni Hotel in downtown Austin. She was especially excited to see her grandmothers getting mehndi done!
On Friday, there was a rehearsal dinner at Clay Pit in downtown Austin, and both Nikhil and Laura’s families got dressed up in Indian clothes to celebrate the occasion.
On Saturday, Laura and Nikhil got ready at the Omni. Laura’s mother and sister helped her into her STUNNING white dress. The fusion wedding took place at Rough Hollow Yacht club, and incorporated both eastern and western marriage rituals.
The chef at the Grille at Rough Hollow created delicious fusion menu items just for Laura and Nikhil.
It was a perfect end to a wonderful wedding.
