Preeya & Pramod's Sunshine Hawaiian Hindu Wedding
Preeya and Pramod were married in the warm, sunny Hawaiian summer at the Four Seasons Resort. A four day event filled with henna, dancing, boating, and bliss.
What could be more exciting?!
Preeya shares her story with us:
When Pramod and I got engaged in the romantic islands of Hawaii, we knew right away that we wanted to plan our wedding there. An Indian destination wedding was quite the feat to plan and we traveled to Maui often over the year to organize all the details and logistics. We had four days of events with 250 people and tried to combine both the traditional elements of a Hindu ceremony with the more modern Indian-American styles.
Our first event was a Menhdi event where traditional henna patterns were drawn intricately on both the bride and guests.
Following this was a Sangeet show where families and friends performed skits, dances, songs, and other items for us. The show itself was two hours and had performers from ages 4 to 64. My husband-to-be and I also performed a couple different Indian dances at the end of the show. That night we held a late night party at Tsunami Club at the Grand Wailea and kept dancing til past 2am!
In between the wedding events, we spent some time taking photos. We love the beach and were swept away by its beauty.
Our wedding was in the afternoon in the garden of the hotel facing towards the ocean. It was gorgeous and sunny day! I chose purple and orange as the color theme for the flowers. Our garlands were made from purple, orange and red roses, while the aisle had an arrangement of rose petals.
