Ailah and Sami's Classic Muslim Wedding {Dallas, TX}

2014 Jul 31 - by Preeti
Sometimes all you need is that classic red wedding dress. Last week we featured a red and gold sharara, and at Farha's wedding, we had a dark red sharara with silver and cream. Today we have a classic red sharara with gold and black piping.

And the valima sharara is an oh-so gorgeous cream and silver with royal purple piping.

Ailah and Sami had a Muslim wedding in Dallas, Texas at the Crystal Banquet and the Eldorado Country Club. The wedding was filled with soft gold and cream draping while the reception had a modern, white and royal purple look. And the mehndi was full of greens, oranges, and golds.

Ailah talks with us about their wedding.

Tell us about the wedding!

We had a traditional Pakistani wedding which was a three day ceremony held in Dallas, TX. The first day was the mehndi which was filled with nonstop dancing and entertainment. The second day was the nikaah, our beautiful wedding ceremony, where we were officially married. Lastly, we had our walima which was an elegant reception and ceremony celebrating the beginning of our new marriage.

All my clothes were made overseas in Pakistan by the hard work of my mother and my aunt. I entered the mehendi on a beautiful doli (palanquin) which was carried by my childhood friends. Eveything was small, simple and intimate which is just the way I wanted it to be.

What was the inspiration for your wedding?

I wasn't too picky about the wedding so I didn't specifically get inspired from anything in particular. Like many brides, I stuck to Pinterest for some of my ideas.

What was the hardest part about wedding planning?

Definitely making sure my clothes fit. Getting into shape before your wedding is really stressful! Along with that, meeting the right decorators took a lot of time. We actually found the mehendi decorator extremely last minute -- a week before!!

Did you do any DIY (do it yourself) or special projects/things at the wedding?

I opted to do my own makeup for all three events! I'm a makeup artist by profession so it was something I was extremely looking forward to doing.

What was your favorite part of the wedding?

Everything was so beautiful. It came to a surprise to me when my husband jumped on the dance floor at the mehendi and had a choreographed dance prepared for me with his friends and cousins. Overall, I loved that everyone was so involved throughout our entire three day ceremony. It was all smiles!

What advice do you have for future brides- and grooms-to-be?

Just have fun!

Thank you so much for sharing! Wish you both the best in life.
