Looking For Love, Desi Style? Try One of These South Asian Dating Sites

December 7, 2015 - by Zara

I met my fiancé by accident. I'm of Indian descent and he is, well, not. And while meeting him was ultimately the most wonderful thing that has ever happened to me, our relationship hasn't always been easy.

Interracial relationships are amazing and important - but some South Asian women would rather settle down with someone from their own culture. And you know what? Despite the fact that I didn't choose that path, I completely understand the comfort of settling down with someone who comes from a similar background.

If you're adamant about finding another desi to fall in love with, why not try a South Asian dating site? This will help you really focus on what you want and will open your eyes to desis who are outside your existing circle. These sites are all fantastic options for those of us who want to find love in a desi place.

Two Mangos: First of all, the name of this site is adorable. Secondly, the site's mission statement points out something important: 'matrimonial sites just don't cut it anymore.' Sure, Shaadi.com works for some people - but let's face it, that model is a bit outdated for others. Two Mangos also users to tell others about themselves through a series of blog posts and we love the emphasis that places on a user's personality.

Dil Mil: This app is perfect for the modern desi guy or gal (did I really just say "gal?" Yeah, I did. Moving on.) Not only is it 21st century appropriate - it's an app, so feel free to scroll through it on your phone during your commute - it also allows users to connect with like-minded American desis.

Kama: It's simple: You have three match opportunities every day and if there's an interest there, you can message back and forth with that person. The company boasts excellent technical capabilities, but our favorite thing about this site is how it feels more fresh and contemporary than most Indian dating sites out there.

DesiCrush: Much like Tinder, DesiCrush uses location to match you with prospective love interests. The rest is up to you: The platform encourages you to see where it goes once you're match with someone, so users understand that while some people are looking for matrimonial purposes, others are just trying to find someone to date.
