A Wedding at 14,000 Feet: Pangong Tso Lake in Ladakh

2019 Feb 15 - by Preeti
We are heading far far north in India to the border of Jammu Kashmir and Tibet . At more than 14,000 feet, Pangong Tso (known as Pangong Lake) is one of the highest altitude salt/fresh water lakes in the world.

A remote location, it is magical and Earth shattering. We are so excited to hear from photographers A Knotty Tale along with their couple to tell of their wedding journey.

Shachi & Rikhil are film-makers, who met on a road-trip to Scotland seven years ago. When they decided to get married, the affair had to something never done before. They did not want a traditional wedding and decided to re-live their trip along with their closest friends and family in the most scenic location in all of India - The Pangong Lake at Ladakh - a wedding has never been done before in this location. They wanted something that is special to them - they decided to exchange vows at 14,000Ft with their close friends and family in attendance.

Both of them are avid-bikers and this was a slice of heaven on Earth. It was certainly like a Bollywood film, where the entire baraat traveled on the five hour journey from Leh to Pangong on motorcycles.

The wedding event was photographed by wedding photographer extraordinaire A Knotty Tale. Decor was limited to colorful Buddhist style flags since it was of utmost importance to leave the area without any human impact.
