White People at Indian Weddings

Posted on January 16, 2012April 12, 2013

It’s not often you see Americans and other white people at Indian weddings, but it does happen. And yes, I call you white people so that I can lump in Americans, Swedes, Brits, French all in one and yes, you do have lighter skin than us brown people.

I am therefore not politically correct so please get over it or laugh a lot. Actually laugh.

And namaste.

At my wedding, the white people outnumbered my family. Family 32 – white people 55. And no Indian wedding is complete without wearing saris, lenghas, and maag tikkas. C’mon, who doesn’t love to get dressed up?

This photo is still missing people!
muhaha!

If you think the girls were the only ones interested, think again. The men styled out too. I have never seen so many men, white men, wear dhotis.

I’m pretty sure none of our Indian guests had seen so many foreigners at a wedding in Mumbai in India. Last time that happened probably was at Elizabeth Hurley’s wedding and then maybe divorce?

More white people and foreigners overrunning the streets.

Aren’t these folks awesome to embrace Indian culture and fashion with a wink of an eye?

    That’s some white people.

They all seem to have taken well to Indian clothes. Look comfortable too.

Awww…Everybody looks so nice. How much fun would it be if everyone in America dressed like this…It reminds me of the Chronicles of Narnia, where your most comfortable clothes are also your most beautiful ones. Best Wishes!
    P.S.
I don’t know of anyone who minds being called a white person if they are a white person. It is what it is, right?

Well, I’m very white (ancestors from Sweden and England, and I sunburn like crazy) and I’m certainly not bothered at being called “white”!!

Especially love seeing not-young-or-model-thin white women in Indian dress – I love the embroidery and love wearing my kameez, but at 50 I sometimes wonder if I look like I’m in costume.

And OF COURSE the men will love colorful clothes if you can just get them to admit it. Which one has the mane – the lion or the lioness? Which one has the colorful feathers – the peacock or the hen?

Awesome photos! Myself I am a Gori… but I also follow the Sikh faith, and plan to marry a Punjabi Sikh guy… so there will be lots of Goris at my wedding… including myself 🙂 I already wear salwar kameez to the Gurdwara though regularly, so I am used to Indian clothing. I have a few really beautiful suits that I wear on special occasions (lots of beadwork, embroidery, sequins etc.) I just love Indian clothing and love having an excuse to wear it whenever I can 😛 I am so bored with plain old jeans and t’s lol. Beautiful wedding pics!!

Hi, I am a white male that loves wearing female clothes and recently found indian styles to my liking, they are so comfortable to wear and look stunning, I envy the ladies who these clothes are designed for. Please accept my appologies if a white male wearing indian clothing is degrading to your culture. I fully understand.
The photos of the white men wearing male indian clothes are brilliant but I do keep looking at the womens designs
