Margaritas are the perfect drink for a hot, summer day – or when you are just looking to have some fruity fun! Since they are so versatile in terms of ingredients, margaritas can be adapted to suit just about any taste preference.
Although they originate from Mexico, there is no reason why deliciously smooth-yet-slushy margaritas can’t make a guest appearance at your South Asian wedding! With some Alphonso mango pulp and creamy coconut milk, you can dress up the classic margarita with a tasty Indian twist.
Ingredients:
(Recipe makes about 3 drinks)
1/2 cup of gold tequila
1/4 cup of triple sec or orange liqueur
6 oz. of Alphonso mango pulp or mango juice (diced, fresh mangoes can also be substituted)
1/3 cup of lemon juice (freshly-squeezed lemons or limes can also be used)
1/4 cup of coconut milk
2 tablespoons honey (not pictured)
1 1/2 cups of ice (not pictured)
Salt to garnish (not pictured)
Prep Time: 5 minutes, Total Time: 5 minutes
How To:
1. Prepare the glass by garnishing the rim with salt. To do this, wet the rim of the glass with a paper towel – then carefully dip the rim into a small pile of salt so that salt sticks evenly across the rim.
2. Add the measured ingredients into a blender. If you want a smoother drink, put the ice first so it will blend evenly throughout the margarita. If you prefer more of a slushy drink, put the ice last so that chunks remain in the margarita.
3. Puree all the ingredients in a blender until the mixture is smooth and the ice is crushed to your liking.
4. Pour out the drink into the garnished glass. Enjoy your creamy, fruity, and delicious margarita!
