What a beautiful wedding on the blog today! We are heading over to Woodland Park, New Jersey for a royal colored wedding.
Anjoli and Tim had an Indian Christian Mar Thoma wedding. With an asymmetric ruffle strap on the wedding dress and the delicate bouquet of calla lilies, Anjoli was an elegant and gorgeous bride!
With their color theme in the royal blues and greens, SOSN Events helped create a regal but understated and beautiful reception hall. Blue-green hydrangeas, upside down flowers floating in long flutes, and purple accents added to the beauty.
Thanks to KSD Photography for capturing their wedding. Couldn’t have done a better job.
And I’m sure you’re dying to see to all the lovely photos, so I’ll leave to Anjoli and Tim to tell their wedding story.
Tell us about the wedding!
We had an Indian Christian wedding done in the Marthoma right which comes from Kerala, India. Prior to the ceremony, the bride/groom gives the elders of their respective families gifts. During the wedding, the priest places the wedding rings on the bride and grooms’ fingers.
There is a sari called the “mantrakodi” which is placed on the bride’s head as being part of the groom’s family. Usually the groom’s sister or female relative will stand in place of the maid/matron of honor. The groom also ties a “minnu” which is a pendant with a cross and held by 10 strings of the mantrakodi around the bride’s neck.
The week of the wedding was so busy it went like a flash. Between last minute prep and relatives coming every day, it went by so quickly.
What was the inspiration for the wedding?
The inspiration for our wedding can be summed up into two words: simple and elegant. We both wanted things to be simple enough, yet elegant to be a grand event. The colors were emerald green and cobalt blue because the colors are royal yet simplistic.
The hardest part of wedding planning was trying to hear and please both our families/friends and trying to get everything done in a timely fashion.
What was your favorite part of the wedding?
Anjoli: My favorite memory of the wedding was just seeing the ladies who meant the most to me stand by my side as I took the biggest step of my life.
Tim: My favorite wedding memory was the speeches made by the best man and matron of honor, and seeing all our friends and family who came near and far to celebrate the day with us.
What advice do you have for future brides?
I would sum it up in three words:
1) Prioritize
2) Be Yourself
3) Enjoy!
Thank you so much for sharing your wedding! We wish you both the best in life.
