Happy New Year fantastic lovely readers!
We are super excited about 2014 and what it holds for all of us. Lots of weddings, lots of engagements, lots of happy moments!

Each of us at the BFIW have put together a little blurb about what we are excited for this year. We also have some big surprises in store for you but can’t share it just yet. Muhaha.
Preeti:
I am thrilled to see lots of amazing weddings in 2014. We already have a lineup of some absolutely gorgeous ones and just can’t wait to share them all. I love that we share weddings of all styles and religions and costs. Really, no wedding is too big or too small to share and we want weddings from all over the world celebrating South Asian heritage (not just Indian or Pakistani).
Also, I am excited to see new advertisers come on board and am incredibly thankful for our current advertisers that make The Big Fat Indian Wedding possible. They are awesome people. If you don’t already know, check out the BF Redbook to see all our fantastic vendors.
And thank you to all our Facebook fans for reaching 100,000! Wow!!! I never know that was possible but the past month has been insane and we are all grateful to the support and comments you all provide. Squeee!
Nadya:
Dear lovely readers, I hope that with welcoming this New Year you’re also welcoming a new world and a new you. This past year working for The Big Fat Indian Wedding has been pretty fantastic, if I do say so myself. It’s been full of intrepid reporting (see our photo journal from the National Asian Wedding Show) and fantastical fashion. I got the chance to let my vegan show in so many ways. It’s like I was allowed to make myself a home here at BFIW, with all the love and support of our readers and social media followers.
Like, remember when I wrote that list for Buzzfeed, “The 30 Stages of an Indian Wedding” and you guys shared it over 70,000 times? It was like all my high school dreams came true and I was finally pop-u-lar. Or remember my “10 Things You Should NEVER EVER Do at a South Asian Wedding“? Yup, good times.
But I think the thing I love the most about working for BFIW is all the discussion we open ourselves up to. Just one glance at our Facebook page and you will see people making comments (good and bad) that others respond to respectfully. That is not super common on the internet, so I applaud you all for that. It’s like y’all are the knights (of social justice), and we’re the Round Table.
In this coming year I hope to be able to write more for you guys about animal rights issues (we’re currently planning a huge series on ivory) and give you some more options to make your wedding (and life) more ahimsa.
It’s gonna be a good year, I already know it.
Shriya:
Happy New Year, lovely readers! I’ve had an amazing 2013 with The Big Fat Indian Wedding – mostly due to all the glitz and glamor I can fawn over from all our featured weddings and fashion shows!
As a food writer, I’ve really loved experimenting with new recipes – and I would never have had the chance to be so deliciously daring with some of the desserts without the BFIW.
I’ve always loved cooking and baking, and undying love for Indian food made me very familiar with spices and ingredients. However, my favorite part about food blogging with the BFIW was mixing my knowledge of Indian food (or rather, generations worth of recipes passed down through my family) with fusion ideas and concepts.
Honestly, Western dishes spiced with ginger, cardamom, and other Eastern flavors are the perfect combinations of sugar, spice, and everything nice!
I am a proud makeup junkie (and anyone who knows me will say I use the term “junkie” too lightly) – so I can’t wait to write about my favorite products, brands, and beauty tips. Keep checking out our upcoming posts on skincare and makeup recommendations. They’ll be sure to make you glossy, vibrant, and fabulous for 2014!
And of course, we all look forward to the new weddings we’ll be featuring this year. Whether its a throwback to the traditional, gorgeously lavish Indian ceremonies or an intriguing fusion twist, we are super stoked to see what the new year has in store for matrimonial bliss!
Peter:
You don’t know much about me, but I’m the guy Preeti married. Yea, that guy! I am also the guy that runs the development and design of the site. Basically, I stay behind the scenes and code monkey away.
Right now I am working on some top secret projects that I hope you all will love. I can’t say anymore than that (or they won’t be secret!), but stayed tuned for great things to come.
2014 is in for some fantastic things with The Big Fat Indian Wedding and I can’t wait to see what our writers Nadya and Shriya will do, as well as the community you readers will bring.
Happy 2014 wonderful readers!
