There is no designer like Manish Arora. He is the reincarnation of YSL and Channel in an Indian body. He can use color like no other couture designer and knows how to push the limit of sanity, fashion, and color.
We’ve seen Manish Arora’s collection from the neon print to bright geometric pastels. His collection for this year’s India Couture Week pays homage to five stories: incredible iridescent sheer, prismatic festival lights, aristocratic Japanese chip embroidery, regal pearl embroidery and signature multicolored kitsch.
While I wouldn’t quite recommend wearing bindi dots in cyber tribal manner, like the photo below, I totally admire Arora’s genius.
The collection previewed at the Embassy of France in New Delhi, which is fitting because the French have the greatest obsession and fascination with Manish. I mean, who else is willing to cover their model in dot stickers with a headpiece with silver circles?
It’s like Arora is channeling those wild days of Paris Fashion Week when designers created outfits that were unrealistic, yet mesmerizing.
