If you’re in the mood for a celebration – or simply craving a sweet snack – here’s an easy recipe to bring some extra joy and deliciousness into your home!
Ingredients:
Recipe makes about 20 pedas
8 oz. of ricotta cheese
1 tbsp of ghee
1/2 cup of sugar
3/4 cup of milk powder (needs to be in powdered form, NOT liquid)
1/2 tsp of cardamom powder (not pictured)
Almonds to garnish
Prep Time: 10 mins
Total Time: 40 mins
How To:
1. Heat a thick-bottomed pan on medium heat and add the ghee to it. Let the ghee melt and spread over the bottom of the pan.
2. Add the ricotta cheese and allow it to mix with the ghee. Lower the heat to low-medium to avoid burning the cheese.
3. Once the water begins evaporating from the cheese, add the milk powder and sugar to the pan.
4. Stir thoroughly and frequently until the mixture begins to separate from the sides of the pan. Add the cardamom powder to the mixture while stirring.
5. When the mixture begins to form a lump, turn off the heat.
6. After the mixture is cool enough to handle, grease your hands with a touch of ghee and roll it into little balls.
7. Press down slightly on each rolled ball and top it with an almond. Set the peda to cool further.
8. Serve and enjoy that sweet creaminess!
