What a wedding today! Samira and Nigel met through a mutual friend years ago. As their friendship developed, their love blossomed. And last year they tied the know in Bellagio, Ontario, Canada. This lovely comes from different backgrounds, Samira is a Muslim Bengali, and Nigel is a Buddhist Sri Lankan. To celebrate their cultures and religions they first had a private Nikah ceremony, followed by a Buddhist wedding and reception a few months later.
We are so excited to share photos from their Buddhist wedding! Samira wore a classic ruffle white wedding dress and then a white sari adorned with silver accessories, traditional of Buddhist brides.

The ceremony and reception took place at the Bellagio banquet and convention centre in Vaughan, Ontario, Canada. Family and friends gathered in the hall to watch Samira, accompanied by her parents, walk down the isle to the rhythm and beat of the drums and horns. The ceremony was beautiful and filled with details and happiness.
The reception started with a great entrance by the bridal party as they danced a number to a mix of popular songs including Gangam Style. This was followed by speeches from the bride and groom’s parents, the maid of honour and other members of the bridal party and finally the bride and groom themselves who gave a very heartfelt and tearful speech thanking their family and friends for being there for them throughout all the years.
This was followed by a performance from a group of Brazilian samba dancers that got the party started and the bride and groom partied the night away!
