Happy summer and welcome to our mocktail/cocktail series! Summertime is perfect for those refreshing, fruity drinks to sip at an outdoor wedding, bridal party – or any event with sunshine, family, and friends.
I named the first drink in this series after the “Golden City” Lucknow, not only because it’s a gold-colored lemonade-tea drink, but also because Lucknow is such an amazing blend of cultures that this spritzer (with its fancy seeded ingredients) definitely incorporates!
This fresh and bubbly spritzer will keep you cool and hydrated during these summer months, without any preservatives or processed sugars!
Ingredients (makes one drink):
1/4 cup of lemon juice (preferably with fresh-squeezed lemons – I recommend Meyer lemons because they are a bit sweet!)
1/4 cup of carbonated water (using a SodaStream, if you have one, or just tonic water works fine)
1/2 cup of brewed, iced green tea (choose a blend with lemongrass for a fresher taste)
2 teaspoons of agave nectar
1 teaspoon of soaked chia/tukmaria seeds (you can use both or either)
1 slice of Meyer lemon for decoration
Prep Time: 20 mins
Total Time: 25 mins
How-To:
1. Soak the chia/tukmaria seeds in a bowl for at least 20 minutes. Make sure to submerge them in water completely.
2. Prepare a cup of green tea by pouring hot water over a teabag and letting the tea brew for 1-2 minutes.
3. Pour the hot tea over a glass filled with ice to make iced tea.
4. Add the lemon juice, iced tea, and carbonated water to a tall glass or mason jar.
5. Mix in the agave nectar until it dissolves completely.
6. Add the soaked chia/tukmaria seeds to the drink and stir.
7. Add ice and garnishing accordingly.
8. Sit back and sip away!
