Congresswoman and US Representative Tulsi Gabbard got married to her beau Abraham Williams in an outdoor traditional Hindu ceremony.
Representing Hawaii’s 2nd Congressional District, Tulsi is one of the first two female combat veterans and the first Hindu to ever serve as a member of the U.S. Congress. If there was an Indian role model to be found anywhere, this is her!
Like many Indian brides before her, she had a last minute chaotic change in wedding outfits and dropped the dress in favor of a bridal Lacha lengha in navy blue with gold embroidery ordered online. And it arrived two days before the wedding. Aye!
Their outdoor wedding on the island of Oahu took place at Kahaluu Fish Ponds. The Indian wedding featured a pink and yellow mandap, leis (garlands) made in jasmine and orchids, and the perfect weather, despite some overcast clouds.
Ho’omaika’i ‘ana!
