Happy day lovelies! We always love a wine country wedding, especially when that wedding is just in our backyard. The Meritage Resort and Spa in Napa Valley is one of those picture postcards place.
A BF Red Book member, The Meritage Resort knows Indian weddings and knows how to throw a fabulous party (check out the gorgeous Punjabi wedding there last year).
This time we have a beautiful Hindu wedding in reds, corals, and whites. Contrasting with the vineyards, Neha and Ryan’s wedding is breathless.
Florist and planner, Mandy Scott shares a few insider details with us about their wedding.
They chose the Meritage Resort because the venue gave them the opportunity to offer an inclusive weekend resort base for the families and their guests and allowed them various venues within the resort to host their various events.
For the two events prior to the wedding day, the traditional Mehendi and the Sangeet, we chose Indian inspired décor with a festive, fun twist. Lots of bright bold saturated colors and interesting furniture.
On the wedding day Neha and Ryan chose to play to the beauty of the Napa Valley with their outdoor ceremony. The groom’s baraat arrived at the foot of the hill and then the guests wound their way up the hillside to the hilltop Vineyard Terrace with its sweeping views of vines.
The wedding ceremony featured red as well as white and the coral of the bridesmaids’ clothes; a rich color combination that just popped against the vineyard setting. We incorporated floral elephants at the beginning of the aisle and used the gazebo already on site transformed into the mandap for the ceremony with soft drapery and floral accents.
Following the outdoor ceremony, they had a ballroom setting for their elegant Western style reception with formal dinner and dancing. Colors of blue, silver and white were inspired by the brides chosen outfit. Soft drapery and twinkle lights were added to bring a romantic feel to the evening. Lush opulent centerpieces with sparkling crystals and tons of candles added to this feeling.
Isn’t this one romantic wedding? And now bride Neha shares their wedding story.
Tell us about the wedding
Ryan and I wanted a destination wedding at a location that wasn’t too far for our friends and family to travel to. We both always wanted to go to Napa Valley together when we were dating because we love good wine and food but we never made it there. When we got engaged, we thought Napa would be the perfect destination so all our guests could explore the wineries and enjoy the beauty of the area between wedding events.
Our wedding was a pretty traditional Indian wedding. I initially wanted a fusion wedding to incorporate both our cultures but Ryan and his family embraced Indian culture so much and were so excited about the Indian traditions, food, clothes and festivities that it ended up being 100% Indian! I was happy though because I grew up attending lots of Indian weddings which tend to be elaborate, colorful and high energy so deep down inside I always envisioned my wedding being Indian.
What was your favorite part of the wedding?
The wedding ceremony was my favorite. It’s hard to envision how all the decor (colors, flowers, drapery, lights, etc) will go together, especially when planning a destination wedding. When I arrived at the ceremony, I was blown away. The flowers and colors looked stunning amidst the background of green vineyards. The whole gazebo was the msot beautiful mandap I had seen. It was breathtaking!
Our wedding vows were our favorite memory. It is so special to express your love for each in front of your friends and family that have been there to support you individually and now together. But our first dance was a close second! We had so much fun preparing our first dance for months and the energy among the crowd made performing it so much more fun!
