Esha Deol & Bharat Takhtani’s Bollywood Wedding

Posted on February 8, 2015February 8, 2015

Of all the Indian celebrity weddings we’ve covered, there was one wedding we totally forgot about. Esha Deol’s!!! Considering her sister got married last year, we figured we needed to pay homage to Hema Malini’s older daughter’s lovely wedding.

Esha tied the knot with Sindhi jeweler Bharat Takhtani at the ISKCON Temple in Juhu, Mumbai in July 2012. The wedding was conducted with South Indian traditions, the decor was orange and green, and a plethora of Bollywood’s celebrities and politicians made their way in style.

For their engagement in early 2012, Esha wore a pink ombre net sari with neon green blouse. It’s a fun and happy outfit.

At the mehndi ceremony, Esha wore an orange and green lengha, while mom sported a light peach shaded sari. Ahana wore dark pink-red salwar kameez with a bright peacock decal. I’m not sure, but it very much reminds me of a Manisha Arora outfit.

This kundan and pearl choker necklace…there are no words…it is soooooooooo pretty.

Nothing beats taking a break from wedding madness and hugging your fuzzy puppies. Love this sweet and intimate view of the bride.

The wedding festivities begin! Bharat and family together.

Ahana wore a classic kanjivareem sari in lime green, orange, and blue. And let’s not forget that gold kamerband (belt). This outfit is way way better than the Neeta Lulla piece at the reception. You’ll see it when you scroll, and your eyeballs will hurt.

Dharmendra welcomed groom Bharat.

Esha wore a magenta kanjivareem sari with green blouse. It’s not a traditional color for a South Indian wedding, but it is gorgeous! We also love all the South Indian temple jewelry.

At the end of the wedding, Esha changed into a red wedding lengha with gota work created by Neeta Lulla.

As for the wedding guests, the list was nothing short of star studded amazingness. Nita Ambani wore a fashionable red chevron sari.

Vidya Balan wore a simple purple sari. Goes to show that simplicity can be just as beautiful as heavily embroidered.

Actresses Madhoo Shah, Rajlaxmi Rao, and Vyjantimala Bali. Love their vintage ensembles.

Here’s that purple dress by Neeta Lulla I was whining about above. Ahana is adorable, but that 80s Barbie doll dress, ugh. Really, ugh. And the long jacket blouse? I have no words for it.

And last but not very least, Esha wore a Rocky S lengha for the reception. Honestly I don’t think her or her sister got the best outfits. Monochromatic outfits are difficult to pull off, and this isn’t one of their shining moments.

Well, I hoped you enjoyed a nostalgic afternoon with me! Now I can rest in peace after finally covering this lovely celebrity wedding.

Photographs from the wedding and reception were shot by the talented DKreate Photography studio and Krunal Shah.
