Oh my oh my, we are in love with today’s wedding! Vidya and Kunjan got married in San Francisco, California on a gorgeous sunny day.
The Hindu wedding ceremony was full of blush pinks, creams, golds, and red. The evening reception featured deep, starry blues and golds. It was dreamy to say the least.
Vidya shares some of her favorite parts of the wedding.
Could you tell us about any special wedding customs/clothing you had?
We wore a traditional lehenga and sherwani for the ceremony but the colors were more modern. Typically a bride will wear all red but I opted for gold, cream, hot pink and maroon.
Customs we included were having our parents under the mandap with us for the ceremony signifying the Union of our families and not just two people. We also included a garba the night before which was a night filled with dance and blessings from our families and friends for a happy and prosperous wedding and marriage.
What was the inspiration for your wedding?
Fusion between traditional Indian and modern. We also had an engagement party with lots of bright jewel tones colors so I opted for a color scheme that was more romantic with flower colors of blush pinks and creams.
I have always loved the painting starry night and we loosely based our color theme and concept on the painting with blue up lighting and gobo swirls scattered trough the room. The theme worked perfectly with the fabulous lighting that was installed in our ballroom just weeks prior to the big day!
What was your favorite part of the wedding?
The moments before our grand entrance of the reception where my husband and I had a few moments just to ourselves to relax and take in the day.
The second would be walking down the aisle with my dad while seeing my husband to be at the end with my mom and all our family and friends there to support us.
