Lovelies! We’re welcoming our next bride part of #DesiBrides2016 to The Big Fat Indian Wedding!
Gurpreet is getting married next summer in her hometown of Brampton, Canada. Planning for that big fat Punjabi Sikh wedding is no easy feat, so we want to know her secrets!
In our intro post, we’ll get to know her first and over the upcoming months, we will get to hear all the stories about wedding planning in Canada.
Tell us a little about your upcoming wedding (when/where/what style)!
My wedding is coming up on July 8th! July 8th is actually our anniversary, it adds a lot more meaning to that day. We will be having our wedding in a gurdwara close to my house in Brampton, Ontario. The gurdwara has a beautiful glass closure around the bride & groom where they are seated, it’s beautiful!
The reception is being held in Mississauga, Ontario at Verdi convention Centre. Verdi has an Italian charm to it, very classy. The style of our morning wedding is very classic and Royal. We are going with gold and maroon as our main colors. We wanted a timeless Royal look, hence the maroons and gold.
What’s your favorite part so far about wedding planning?
My favorite part about the wedding so far has been choosing vendors and designing my outfit of course! I love that it is the one day I get to splurge a little and treat myself.
My least favorite part about wedding planning has been making time and appointments to meet with vendors. Although it is necessary, I find it to be a bit time consuming.
What’s your dream wedding outfit color? Designer?
My dream wedding outfit color for my wedding is gold (shimmer) and maroon. I am so inspired my Sabyasachi and Manish Malhotra. I love sparkles and I like how maroon goes with gold.
What’s your favorite flower?
Believe it or not- I’m not a big flower girl but I do love how peonies look!
Honeymoon destination?
Bram (my fiancĂ©) and I have decided that we will be going to Thailand for our honeymoon. While we’re down there- we have plans to visit Indonesia as well. We love culture and learning new things- we’re stoked!
Gurpreet, we can’t wait to hear more about your planning and adventures. Be sure to check out Gagan, our Indian Aussie bride too.
