Sabyasachi kicked off the summer/resort wear Lakme Fashion Week 2015 in Mumbai, India today. His collection was unusual and reminiscent of your grandmother’s pre-war home or a 60s beach.
This year’s men’s and women’s collection was not up to snuff to his previous work. The steam punk Indo wear, amazing; Aishwarya Rai wearing Sabyasachi, oh mon dieu; the hipster style, epic, the darkly colored wallpaper collection? Not so fun.
Still, we had a few favorite outfits.
Sequins and shimmer are still totally in. Wedding professionals are obsessing about them, designers love them, and girls just want to wear them. This flared dress may scream the 1960s and counterculture but it is daring.
Sri Devi wears an embroidered sari with net. Honestly, you can put this Bollywood icon in any outfit and she will look stunning.
Look summer colors! A lovely periwinkle blue dress with a high crop top and plenty of bright orange and yellow flowers. I could dig this.
I would totally not go for this for a summer resort look: because nothing makes you cooler than wearing all black on the beach in the scorching sun. Still, the cut of the sari, along with a high belt reminds me of an Italian wedding, or funeral. Drop dead gorgeous..
As for the rest of the collection, check out the gallery. Do you have a favorite? Did Sabyasachi fly or die in his latest dress collection?
And apologies for the poor image quality – just haven’t been able to get high resolution anything!)
