Sharmila Farooqi, the daughter of Usman Farooqi, former Chairman of Pakistan Steel Mill wed her beau these past two weeks in Pakistan. Famous, or infamous – depending on your stance, she is a politician from Karachi, Sindh and known for controversy in her family and strong political stance. Reminds us of the Mittal wedding part two; lavish, ornate, and controversial. And before you get the haterade on about where the money came from to fund the wedding, let’s at least admire her outfits and those grand marigold garland decors.
No matter what, she sure knew how to throw a wedding! Her wedding went on for 15 days, which started on February 22nd and ended March 8th. Each day saw different themes, clothing and food. The wedding cards were published in seven different colors for all seven functions. I did the seven colored cards for seven functions at my wedding; don’t I feel lavish now!
The mayoon was on the 22nd, a sangeet/music festival on the 25th, the Nikkak ceremony on the 28th. The mehndi ceremony took place on March 3rd, a rukhsati on the 5th, and phew! finally on the 8th, a grand valima in Lahore.
All we can say is that her outfits were stunning. And photography, by our favorites, Irfan Ahson. Yea, THAT Ahson. And, we also have to thank Ali Khurshid Lighthouse Photography for the nikkah, mayoon, and some of the wedding photos (to distinguish, these pics are not watermarked). Thank you both very much for these exclusive wedding photographs! And folks, please give these photographers credit if you use/share their photos and contact them about it.
The Nikkah – love the grey silver simplicity of the gharara paired with ruby styled jewelry.
Mandatory photo with mummy pappa (I assume?). Not sure of mummy’s makeup, a bit overpowering compared to the bride, but I love the outfit! These photos are courteous of Lighthouse Photography.
Husband Hasham Riaz Sheikh styling in parrot green sherwani.
Sharmila wore a deep, blood red Bunto Kazmi bridal outfit for the wedding. Photos by Irfan Ahson and Lighthouse Photography.
For one of the events (if you know, tell me) she wore a colorblocked lengha.
On the mehndi, which was full of dancing and fun, she wore a green Bunto Kazmi outfit.
And this rustic gold sharara I believe was worn on the valima. Though someone tell me if I’m wrong!
Oh and we can’t forget some of these guests, including famed makeup artist Mariam of Mariam’s Bridal Studio.
And happy yellow and cream colors at the mayoon. Photographs by Lighthouse Photography.
Check the gallery for the rest of the bridal photos from this lavish Pakistani wedding! And once you’re done, don’t forget to see Ayeza and Danish’s rustic wedding.
