Whether you’re a glamorous bride who vows to spare no wedding expense or a laid-back budget bride, almost everyone can agree on one thing: A great photographer is an essential part of any wedding.
Great photos will remind you of your wedding day for years to come. That’s why it’s so important for you to hire someone who is not just a great photographer, but also the right photographer for your wedding. Here are seven questions you should ask before signing the contract.
1. Will you be available for me all day?: You will probably want photographs of pre-wedding moments (having your makeup done, your first look, etc.) Because of this, it’s really important that you ensure your photographer will be around to capture these moments. Make sure you have a full-day commitment detailed in your contract.
2. Do you have experience shooting Indian weddings?: The colors, details and rituals of Indian weddings can be very different than what goes on at a standard U.S. wedding. It might be a great idea to hire a photographer who has shot Indian weddings before and really understands how everything works.

3. Will you have an assistant with you?: When you have a larger wedding, sometimes it takes two photographers to capture everything. It’s worth asking your prospective hires if their packages include an additional person.
4. Will I own all the photos?: Some photographers offer packages that only allow you to download some of the photos – not a big deal, just make sure you understand how many photos you are entitled to before booking. The last thing you want is a last-minute surprise!
5. Will you post or submit photos without my consent?: A lot of photographers reserve the right to use your photos on their web sites and blogs. If you would like to approve the photos first, be sure to ask if he or she can secure your permission before selecting the photos to post.

6. How long will the photos take?: Your photographer should be able to provide a time frame for the finished product – that way, once the day is over, you’ll know not to expect them right away.
7. Do you offer printing services?: Whether you want an album or wedding photos or a few large prints to hang in your home, you should inquire about your photographer’s policy regarding printouts – he or she may offer a great deal on professional services, which could make your decision easier to make!
