Every woman wants to look more beautiful than ever on her wedding day. While getting your skin, hair and body into prime shape is something you should start thinking about early on in your engagement, there are certainly steps you can take in the days leading up to your wedding that will ensure you look your absolute best on the big day.
It can be hard to figure out what you do (and do not) need to do. While every woman is different, we think these seven beauty rules apply to most brides. Follow them to a tee to avoid any unfortunate beauty mishaps on your big day!
1. Manicures and pedicures should happen right before the big day:
We all know that even the freshest manicure can start showing chips just a few days after the fact. That’s why it’s best to schedule your mani/pedi appointments just one or two days before your wedding day – you want your nails to look as perfect as possible! Bonus: We think all brides deserve some time to relax right before the wedding. Our tip? Designate last-minute planning tasks to friends or family members and hit the salon for some pampering the day before your wedding.
2. Don’t wax 48 hours before the wedding:
Whether you’re waxing a part of your face (upper lip, eyebrows) or your body (legs, arms, bikini area), we have one very important piece of advice: DO NOT have anything waxed in the two days before your wedding! It may irritate or inflame your skin…and no one wants to show up on the big day with tiny bumps or angry red patches.

3. Don’t get a facial for the first time a week before your wedding:
Contrary to what you might have heard, you really should not get your first facial a week before the wedding. You never know how your skin will react to a new treatment (acne, irritation and allergic reactions are all possible). Instead, get facials in the months leading up to the wedding to get your skin in great shape.
4. Be sure to try the exact products you’ll use on the big day:
Have a makeup trial run and make note of the exact products you use. You’ll want to make sure they don’t irritate your skin, match your skin tone and last a long time on your face.
5. Don’t schedule a haircut too close to the wedding day:
It’s been said that grooms should have their hair trimmed exactly a week before the wedding – but brides should not follow this suggestion. Even if you ask for a very subtle trim, there’s a sizable chance that your stylist will snip too much. Instead, schedule a trim about three to four week before the wedding events begin.

6. Take off your makeup every night before bed:
This is something you should do all the time – but it’s especially important during the week of your wedding. Be sure to get every last bit of makeup off your face as thoroughly as possible by double-cleansing your skin every night. The last thing you want is a day-of zit!
7. Sleep on two pillows the week of the wedding:
Elevating your head through the night will help your de-puff – this really helps give your face nice definition and removes those annoying bags from underneath your eyes!
