Lovelies, we don’t usually venture out of South Asian culture for our features. But sometimes, when a weddings sweeps us off the feet, we do! Like that San Francisco Persian wedding, swoon!
Today we have a special wedding hailing from the Middle East, specifically Palestine. We spoke to Fusion Photography and Video about their experience photographing the Palestinian wedding, which was held at the Hilton Center City Charlotte in North Carolina.
Truly, we were not prepared for how incredibly this day was going to unfold. Nada and Ahmad had their wedding planned out to perfection. In their Muslim culture, the ceremonies are quite different from your typical Charlotte wedding, which we couldn’t wait to witness.
At the Hilton Center City where the reception was held, the drumming and Zaffe were taken to a whole other level because of the incredible acoustics in the lobby. Nada entered into her reception on a traditional gold swan palanquin.
The reception hall at the Hilton Center City was dazzling. All the decor and floral arrangements were planned and provided by Rahma Zaghari of Carolina Wedding Belle. One thing we noticed and loved about this wedding was that the dancing just did not cease! Nasser Deeb’s music kept everyone on the dance floor the entire evening – even Nada’s beautiful 100-year-old grandmother!
We captured photos of their customary chair dances and the incomparable Faris El-Layl Dabke for the dabke and zaffa (a wedding march in Middle Eastern culture). They performed traditional Palestinian group dances as well. They didn’t. Stop. Dancing!
It was just incredible. Another detail of the wedding that was unique was the presenting of the gold by family and friends of the bride and groom. Each person presents a piece or two to the couple as a wedding gift. This image of Nada and Ahmad’s golden gifts is so stunning. Tiny little Nada was weighted down by the end with some amazing treasures.
