Every bride wants to look fit and toned for her wedding but some Indian brides feel that pressure on a different level. If you’re wearing a belly-baring lengha or sari, you might be feeling a bit of pressure to tone up those abs. Don’t fret, though! There are a few simple ways to flatten out that belly….and none of them involve spending hours at the gym.
1. Water, water, water!: Drink up, ladies! As someone who has always been self-conscious about her tummy, I can tell you: Nothing helps me feel de-bloated like tons and tons of water. Sip as much as you possible can in the days leading up to you wedding. This won’t just help your midsection, it’ll also make your skin glow.
2. Avoid these belly bloat culprits: A few things that can bloat your belly? Chickpeas, beans, lentils, broccoli, dairy, carbonated drinks and alcohol. If you’re serious about keeping your belly flat, stay away from these offenders in the few days leading up to the big day.
3.Plank it out: Crunches are known as the go-to move for toned abs but planks work just as well. Try different variations – classic planks, forearm planks, side planks – for 30 seconds each and work your way up – eventually you’ll be able to hold them for much longer!
4.Eat small, frequent meals: Designate someone to bring you a small snack every hour or so on your wedding day. This is a great way to keep your energy levels up and it will also help your belly stay flat as you won’t overwhelm your stomach with too much volume.
5. Try belly dancing: It’s so much more fun than ab-blasting circuits but will get your tummy toned! Any kind of dance is great for your core, but belly dancing is the ultimate when it comes to ab work. The movements all come from your core and the isolations required will give you the toned midsection of your dreams.
