Amanda and Anand got married in beautiful St. Petersburg (outside Tampa), Florida. They had a double fusion wedding of a tradition Hindu marriage followed by a Catholic church wedding.
Amanda wore a red velvet lehenga with gold embroidery and a to-die-for embroidered white wedding dress. It’s seriously stunning.
The peach fabric mandap featured jewel toned flower garlands. And the vintage burgundy red muscle car had bright purple and red carnations decorating it.
Tell us about the wedding!
Our wedding was a two day affair- with the first day being the Indian ceremony plus a small private dinner and the second day being the Christian wedding plus evening reception. It was held in Sunken Gardens and the Mirror Lake Lyceum in St. Pete.
What was the inspiration for your wedding?
We wanted the best of both worlds- a bright colorful celebration like traditional Hindu ceremonies as well as a more formal intimate and traditional western ceremony with personal vows written by us for each other.
What was the hardest part about wedding planning?
Keeping a budget! And also finding people who did only stage decor or only Indian catering. We didn’t want one company to do it all, although that would’ve made it easier but very expensive at the same time!
Did you do any DIY (do it yourself) or special projects/things at the wedding?
I made the centerpieces that were set on the tables during the first day’s dinner. I was really proud to put my own touch and the guest liked that they could take them home at the end of the night.
What was your favorite part of the wedding?
Dancing a fusion of Indian and Hispanic music with all the guests!
What advice do you have for future brides/grooms-to-be?
Start early. It’s never too early to start the planning process because it goes by so fast!
