We are heading to Dehradun, a green city nestled in the lower mountains of the Himalayas in the state Uttarakhand. Everything is lush and beautiful and there’s no wonder that the colorful bursts of decor and fashion fit perfectly here.
Sridevi and Saurabh, our bride and groom, liked to be called Sri and Sau. Their official hashtag for the wedding was #SriSau. Too cute~!
They met each other for the first time during their Post Graduation, and that is when they instantly hit it off first as best of friends and then were in a relationship that went on for seven years. As their relationship progressed, they realized it was time to tie the knot.
The wedding planning:
When the venue was being decided for the wedding, they wanted a place that would be away from the maddening city crowd, and where they could plan all their wedding functions both during night and day perfectly, without much running around and getting stuck in traffic.
Sridevi hails from Dehradun, known as the city of love, surrounded by hills and located right in the lap of mother nature. Well connected to the outside world with all modes of transportation possible to reach, yet having it’s own vibe of calm and hilly serenity. Hence Dehradun instantly popped up as a number one option, on the list of destinations for the wedding.
Filmy Shaadi who was responsible for the entire wedding planning found some awesome venues that were a perfect mix of natural outdoor beauty and indoor opulence all within reach, and not making it much of a hassle for the guests to travel at a new destination.
Plus Sri’s beautiful home amidst a forest in Dehradun, designed by Sri’s dad himself who is an architect, is indeed a treat to eye. There was no need to book a venue for the mehendi function.
Jyotika Anand from Dehradun was another gem of a creative who came on board for the wedding and set the perfect vibe for the wedding with the decor.
The wedding:
It was a traditional Hindu wedding. But unlike most Hindu wedding that are in the night, this was planned during the day, so that every guest could be a part of the ceremony in full spirit.
Plus the decor in yellow, the groom’s pink sherwani, the bride’s ombre lehenga, the colorful attires of the baraatis, all could have been best captured in pictured during daytime.
A lot of additional fun elements were added during the whole wedding to make it more quirky, unique and fun apart from the regular dancing and merry making.
The bride’s entrance with a DIY lace umbrella. It’s generally done with flowers, but this was a quirky twist to the traditional phoolon ki chadar.
The groom’s entrance on an ATV. Mostly it’s done on a ghodi (horse),but both the bride and groom are anti animal torture, so just went for an ATV that just signified the adventurous spirit to the groom.
The best man, groom’s cutest little nephew color coordinated his outfit with the groom.
An old-style famous vintage band of Dehradun which was used as a dancing prop later..
Pink, yellow and white helium balloons for everyone to hold & release for a happy family picture. And this was done for a group of almost 60 people. Was definitely a keeper.
All the friends and family wrote #SriSau on their hands with henna.
The bride’s mirror image shot next to her mom’s picture holding her when she was born.
The stunning jewellery shot with bride-to-be props and gorgeous veil shots of the bride with vintage Indian nose ring, just added the much needed style statement to the wedding.
