Family, friends and lots of weddings, Rubal and Jigar planned and executed four, yes four, wedding ceremonies spread across the globe in just 10 months!
Today we have their California Sikh wedding to share with you. Captured by the super talented team at JSK Photography, a BF Red Book member, you’re going to fall head over heels with our couple.
Rubal shares her wedding adventures with us.
Were any special wedding customs/clothing you had?
The wedding clothes were bought from designers in Patiala, Punjab and Bombay. The Sikh wedding was wedding three of four total events. We had four weddings spanning the globe – A white dress wedding with bridesmaids and a walk down the aisle followed by a reception, a three day Hindu marriage in India, a three day Sikh wedding in Sacramento and a court wedding at San Francisco City Hall!
What was the inspiration for your wedding?
Love and family. We are from two different Indian cultures and religions. We wanted to make sure no one had to sacrifice their traditions or dreams. So we had one wedding for every style.
What was the hardest part about wedding planning?
It took forever! 4 events in 10 months. It took over our life!
Did you do any DIY (do it yourself) or special projects/things at the wedding?
Many. For example we customized a backdrop for the Indian wedding with a personalized “Jab we met” poster.
What was your favorite part of the wedding?
Being around friends and family… and the doli. Actually being put in a palanquin by my family and carried out by my brothers on a hot summer day in Sacramento really set in the fact that I was married now and my parents house was no longer home – but in a good way.
What advice do you have for future brides/grooms-to-be?
Keep it simple, but also make all your dreams come true. You only get to do this once (or 4 times). It should be everything you want. Those memories can’t be re-done.
Thank you Rubal for sharing!
