Tell us about the wedding
We are both Marwaris and a traditional Marwari wedding. Even though we were getting married in the royal capital of India – Rajasthan, both Shivam and I did not want the look and feel to be very royal. We drifted towards bohemian and subtle. We chose bougainvillea as our main icon as it is very much the main flower one gets to see at most places in Rajasthan. Also the flower is very pretty and bohemian in itself so it was the perfect fit!
Even our entire wedding stationery was designed with the same theme in mind. We chose all our venues according to the theme of the events. Every function had a different colour palette and we ensured that every element fit well in a well coordinated manner.
Were any special wedding customs/clothing you had?
We did our version of “White Wedding” at the cocktail party, which was the first function. I wore a white wedding dress while all the bridesmaids wore colour coordinated pink gowns!
What was the inspiration for your wedding?
I was not inspired by anything in particular but every function was an ode to a distinct art style. Every function depicted each of these art styles in a different way!
What was the hardest part about wedding planning?
Keeping everyone happy with the selection of function venues and their accompanying themes etc.
Did you do any DIY (do it yourself) or special projects/things at the wedding?
My best friend, Shreya and me designed the entire wedding look. Shivam, too was involved in helping us zero in on all the colour palettes. He was very clear that he did not want the look of the wedding to be very girly or vintage like!
What was your favorite part of the wedding?
The cocktail party was my most fav! It was like a dream come true of sorts. It kickstarted the festivities and we had all the elements of a typical white wedding- the look & feel, ambience, outfits, jazz band, first dance, vows and toasts were raised! All in all, lots of fun as well as picture perfect 🙂
What advice do you have for future brides/grooms-to-be?
Just keep it simple- try not getting worked up- click lots of pictures. Treasure the memories that will then last a lifetime!
