The Spring Summer’19 collection, ‘India By The Nile’, celebrates extravagance from the designer’s travels through Egypt. The ready to wear collections blends cultural symbolism and iconography with a contemporary, India Modern approach.
The tableau of sandstone and ecru represents a beautifully clustered heritage photograph of our India modern lehengas with the structured drapes, and with elegantly coordinated sherwanis.
In the peak of spring and summer, when one wants to feel cool there is nothing more elegant than the shades of ivory and beige, layered either on sandstone and biscuit tones or also done in light shades of blush or other pastel colours.
Here, in the ecru and sandstone story, lehengas and classic sherwanis are worn with kamarbandhs and signature mid-calf pleated kurtas. The models wear a variety of structured drapes, bustier cholis, tulle dupattas and veils.
Always cool, always comfortable and sensational for summer weddings.
From Tahiliani:
“Ruched garments represent the modernity of the collection that came out of the Nile. As we sailed down and saw locals and etchings in the temples, we were reminded of how old great societies used the draped form, but it articulated itself in different ways, based on the fabric, and some cultural representations.
As Greek, Egyptian, Roman and Indian civilizations used the draped form; they interpreted them in different ways, wrapped but with simple motifs and sheer backs.
Here we have the draped cocktail dress and an elegant kaftan with a sheer back. These are accompanied by cool white summer sherwanis.”
The TTAccessories collection feature hand-sewn pearls, crystals, and detailed beaded handles, tassels and fringes in subtle pastel shades.
