Ali Xeeshan’s Eid collection was featured in the 2013 L’Oreal Pakistani Bridal Fashion Week – and it was a huge success! The designer focuses on embellishing the very traditional designs of ancient Pakistan – from stunning floor-length lehengas to metallic dresses.
The collection features a lot of red and blue, but it never looks overdone because of the heavy usage of gold and silver embroidery. Like in traditional Pakistani bridalwear, Ali Xeeshan sticks to designs such as cholis and lehengas with headpieces and accented borders. He does add a modern touch with neon colors though.
The groom’s collection is just as regal as his bridal counterpart. With neutral basics, the bright red scarves and gold embroidered designs really stand out. Plus, the turban adds a very authentic touch to the overall look.
I like the 18th century, Victorian prints on the Pakistani cholis – but I don’t think they look as beautiful when applied to bridalwear. The outfit is unique and the metallic prints definitely stand out, yet I find the black top paired with a long skirt to be too simple. Unfortunately, the elaborate headgear throws the whole look off and draws too much attention to the accessories instead of the beautiful patterns.
My favorite design in this collection was the teal and red jacket and dress combination. The colors are fun, the accessories are complementary, and the design sticks to its traditional inspiration while introducing bold new elements through bright colors and beaded embellishments.
Ali Xeeshan’s collection is a gorgeous blast from the past, which also plays with modern touches. I loved the neon colors, floral designs, and heavily beaded dresses. The Eid collection was truly something special to celebrate.
