It’s that time of year again! The weather is chilly, the sweaters are out, and the perfect place to relax is with a hot drink on the couch or by the fire.
Here’s an Indian take on a simple holiday favorite – spiced cider. Start with your favorite apple cider (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) and throw in some strong spices for a delightfully warming treat!
(Recipe makes about 2 servings)
1 bottle of apple cider (I chose Stella’s Belgian Apple Cider)
1 tsp of chai masala
3-4 chunks of fresh ginger
1 clove of garlic
3 cinnamon sticks
1/2 tsp of black pepper (or a tsp of whole black peppercorns, if you prefer a stronger taste)
1 tsp of sugar (not pictured)
1 tbsp of vanilla extract
Prep Time: 5 mins
Total Time: 15 minutes
How-To:
1. Simply add all the ingredients to a saucepan and bring to a boil. Once the mixture is boiling, bring it to a simmer and leave it on low heat for 10 minutes.
2. Strain out the whole spices before pouring the cider into mugs.
3. Sip up that warm, tasty cider. For a bonus, toss in some gingerbread or vegan chocolate chip cookies!
