Mandira Wirk’s designs are synonymous with luxury and opulence in bridal fashion. At the Aamby Valley India Bridal Week in Mumbai, we got a taste of Royalty of Jaipur.
Emerald and royal tones, along with beaded embroidery, exemplified the architectural grandeur of the city of Jaipur.
Showstopper Sophie Chaudhary graced the runway in a gold lengha with royal blue trim with a corset blouse.
From sarees to anarkalis, Mandira Wirk’s collection graced the runway with elegance. The last thing you could call these designs is pedestrian. Even the simplicity of was glamorized with sweetheart cuts, jacket blouses, and elaborate patterns.
The use of regal colors was a huge contributor to the display of Jaipur’s finest. The city is an emblem of royalty, and colors like royal blue, majestic purple, and dusty gold truly bring out the marvels of the Pink City.
The collection stayed true to its royal standards, but it also brought a touch of modern with the use of sheer fabrics. They created an edgy look while maintaining modesty.
My favorite bridal is this blue and gold saree with an ornately embroidered pallu. The layers of sheer fabric, coupled with gold beading and touches of blue really stand out as royal and elegant. And I love the jacket blouse as a more modern take on traditional saree blouses. The use of meenakari jewelry is a shoutout to Mughal times – with headpieces and necklaces that a true rani would wear.
I wasn’t a big fan of this black floor-length gown. Sure, it is a gorgeous jacket, but as a just a dress (or gown?) it is incomplete. Pants or skirt anyone?
The peacock design is exquisite, especially when contrasting the red with the gold/black . Still, pants or skirt, and a kundan mang tikka would complete the look.
Overall, Mandira Wirks’ Royalty of Jaipur speaks for itself – it is regal, extravagant, and fabulous. I’m sure Jaipur’s ancient royals would agree it stands true to the glamor of the city.
A Boho Mughal gold wedding dress. Take that Cinderella!
Black wouldn’t be the first choice for a wedding outfit, but this jacket lengha is oh-so-sexy. And former Ms. Canada, Sahar Biniaz, didn’t hurt either.
