The first Bollywood wedding of the season is coming to a close. Ahana Deol, daughter of Hema Malini and Dharmendra, got married to Delhi businessman Vaibhav Vora in Mumbai.
Lots of glamour, lots of pink, and lots of saris! Not surprising, since the Deol family is a Bollywood dynasty.
After their mehndi ceremony on Saturday, the couple had a sangeet complete with Bollywood big names.
Bride Ahana sported a light blue-green lengha while Vaibhav had a classic black sherwani. Her bridal mehndi had a rani drawn onto her palm, and we love that. But, not sure if we dig this lengha as it’s bit too monochromatic with some sort of plastic thingies glued on at the bottom. Not the best outfit, buy hey, at least they didn’t spend $80 million for their wedding.
Ahana and Vaibhav with mother Hema Malini, sister, actress Esha Deol, and brother-in-law Bharat.
I’m loving Esha’s fiery orange and white lehenga! It’s elegant and detailed with ornate beaded embroidery – and the colors are brilliantly bold! Hema Malini’s saree is a true regal blue with orange and silver accents – maybe she planned to complement both of her daughters’ outfits?
The wedding saw a traditional, loud, and super fun baraat with Vaibhav and his family and friends. Hema Malini finally gets to have the Band Baaja Barat for a wedding in the family.
The groom even rode in on the horse carriage with his sister’s son. Awwww.
And the typical family photo after the wedding ceremony: Esha Deol, Hema Malini, and Ahana are all sporting beautiful South Indian gold necklaces.
We can’t see much of Ahana’s wedding lehenga here, but heavily-detailed sleeve gives us an idea of how elaborate it is! Red is a common wedding color for brides – it comes with auspicious meaning.
Also, the groom looks dashing in gold, with a jeweled pin on his wedding turban!
The Reception
The reception was nothing short of star gazing amazement. Everyone and everyone came, from Bollywood to the politico, no star was going to be left behind.
Ahana’s reception gown is gorgeous! I love the bright coral color and silver beaded embroidery. The whole dress, along with her dupatta, looks light and airy. Vaibhav’s kurta is sharp and sleek – they make a beautiful couple!
Esha’s cast is not letting her be a party pooper. All those casts perfectly match her outfits. The red sequin dress is a bit retro, but we dig it. Although, it looks more Western than fusion – a little more shiny detail would have made the dress stand out more.
The Bachchan family, another Bollywood dynasty, attended the reception. Jaya Bachchan’s silk saree is a brilliant red with big, gold damask patterns. Fiery colors seem to be a theme at this wedding!
Aishwarya Rai’s salwar kameez are a bit drab compared to the other guests’ outfits – but she’s stunning enough to pull this bright pink number off.
Darling Sonam Kapoor in a light blue saree – goodness this lady is stylish! I absolutely love her scalloped collar and beaded blouse. Her intricately patterned saree looks so delicate and fabulous – plus, it goes great with that beautifully sparkly clutch!
Actress Dia Mirza made an appearance in a red and gold saree (seriously, was this color combination on the invitation or something?) It’s pretty basic, with a scoop necked gold blouse and thick gold borders – but my, does it look stunning on her!
Juhi Chawla – we’ve always had a crush on you. That anarkali is gorgeous! And win to the long sleeves. The pink and orange were bold, youthful choices too.
Tamil actress Madhoo looks amazing in this gold anarkhali! The black dupatta offsets the golden sparkles for a neutral, glamorous look.
Here is Sonakshi Sinha in a sheer, deep blue saree with a flowing skirt. The gold floral detail on the borders and dark overlay on the sheer sleeves are great touches to a classy outfit!
Well, all the ladies are donning the pinks, oranges, and reds, but Deepika Padukone sported an ombre sari of all three colors. If anyone can top the style charts at a star-studded event, it’s Deepika!
Her sleeveless blouse and extremely thick gold-detailed saree border draws attention to her slim, tall figure. And the jhumka earrings are to die for.
Political heavyweight and Gujarat Chief Minister, Narendra Modi, blesses bride Ahana. Modi is part of the BJP party and will be running for Prime Minister of India.
The Deol family enjoys the celebration amongst friends and family – which includes the likes of Amitabh Bachchan.
