Flat out, I adore Too Faced’s Boudoir Eyes kit. I know I’m late to the game (as the clerk told me when I asked why there were so many left on the shelf), but I’m still going shout my love for this kit from the rooftops.
Firstly, the box is super pretty. It’s a metal case holding 9 different eye shadows. Because it’s metal it holds up well (so much better than those cardboard kits) at the bottom of your purse (you’ll want to have it on you at all times) or suitcase.
The 9 colors can be combined in so many ways. The kit comes with instructions for a day (“day”) look, a night (“classic”) look, and a glam (“fashion”) look, but with experimentation you can find what works for you.
Fair warning: the names of all these colors (as you can probably guess from the kit name) are a bit suggestive – including “lap dance,” “fuzzy handcuffs,” and “sugar walls”. I think they’re fun, but you should probably stash this kit away from the aunties.
The reason why this kit is a must for any Indian wedding guest attendee is that it gives you all the eye looks you’re going to need for the WHOLE WEEK of festivities. That’s right. You only need this kit to get through everything from the poojas to the haldi ceremony to the reception.
Too Faced includes instructions for how to do all three looks – the day look is perfect for pooja, temple, and morning events because it’s soft, understated, and gives you that “natural” look. You won’t feel to made up and you won’t get told off for having panda eyes at the mundar. On brown skin, all the colors come up shiny rather than concentrated. They look super subtle.
The classic look is really great for brunches, cocktail events, and any time when you feel like you should be wearing fancier makeup but don’t exactly want to/know if you should. It’s a bit edgier and darker than the classic look.
Finally, the glam “fashion” look is everything you need for the reception. It’s instant smokey-eye and will add a bit of club cool to your sari (whatever color it is).
Too Faced also has a “Summer Eyes” kit that looks perfect for summer weddings. I didn’t even say earlier, but all of Too Faced’s products are cruelty free! It’s like the icing on the cake – or maybe the fact that this product is perfect is the icing. I’m not sure but I think my love for Too Faced might be one of those immortal-type loves.
