On November 18, Salman Khan’s youngest sister, Arpita, got married to Delhi businessman Aayush Sharma in a big, fat, Indian ceremony at Taj Falaknuma Palace in Hyderabad.
Falaknuma Palace is a sprawling royal estate that has been converted into a hotel and reception hall. The venue was decorated in bright lights, exquisite floral patterns, and a gold and red mandap for Arpita’s wedding.
Arpita is the youngest of the Khan siblings Salman, Arbaaz, Sohail, and Alvira. She was adopted into the Khan dynasty by Salim Khan’s second wife, Helen. Arpita is a London-educated fashion industry enthusiast – and her wedding outfits prove her cultured taste. She was decked out in one-of-a-kind Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla lehengas throughout the ceremonies.
While being doted on by her female relatives, Arpita wore a dazzling Sabyasachi lehenga to her mehendi-sangeet. Look at that velvety fabric and gorgeous embroidery!
Before the pheras and official marriage ceremony, Arpita changed into a beautiful cream lehenga designed by Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla. The flattering color was accented by a pink dupatta and yellow and green borders.
For her marriage ceremony, Arpita wore a red and gold lehenga, again by Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla. The colors may be traditional, but the outfit is a unique creation with intricate gold embroidery and sheer fabrics. The bride’s polki jewelry is a perfect finishing touch on the extravagant and elegant outfit.
Arpita wasn’t the only one wearing big name designers on her big day – her sister-in-law, actress and producer Malaika Arora-Khan, shared some of her own outfits on her Instagram. Here she is in a green and gold lehenga designed by her sister-in-law, Seema Khan.
Being raised in the Khan legacy meant Arpita’s wedding boasted a star-studded guest list too. Katrina Kaif, Aamir Khan, and Karan Johar were just a few of the famous guests that attended Arpita and Aayush’s wedding. Many selfies were to be taken throughout the evening.
Salman Khan took the time to create an Instagram account, just so he could share memories of his little sister’s big day. He included pictures of the guests, the venue, and the important moments.
Salman Khan shared this precious moment of his brothers (and Aamir Khan) walking their sister to the mandap, with all the fancy flair that a Bollywood family would have.
Salman Khan even put his years-long feud with fellow actor Shah Rukh Khan aside for the wedding, as the two embraced and planted a kiss on the beloved bride.
The Khan family made sure that despite all the craziness of the huge ceremony, they were sending off the youngest girl with lots of love and blessings.
What a lucky and loved couple! Arpita and Aayush will be hosting their big, fat, Indian reception in Mumbai on November 21st. We expect to see more stars and more stunning fashion to come, so check back with us for updates!
All the best to the newlyweds!
