A couple months ago we had the chance to review the little talking robot vacuum, the Roomba. Today, we have another vacuum to check out on a very different style.
The Dyson V6 is a cordless vacuum that can suck up just about anything. It is one of many different styles of vacuums on the market (cordless, upright, European, robot), but for being a vacuum, is probably one of the lightest on the market.
Being a vacuum lover, yes I love to vacuum (although no thanks to our cocoa puff making rabbits), I love a good, strong vacuum. We live in a small carpeted apartment which can make vacuuming very tricky. For me there are few reasons I love the Dyson:
Lightweight – This vacuum is so stupidly lightweight that if you hate vacuuming the house with all your might, using this fellow will be a cinch.
Dust bunny sucker (pun intended) – We vacuum everyday with it and the amount of dust, fuzz, and little bits of stuff from the carpet is gross. There is a reason why the brush head actually get power delivery from the main source at the top. This thing SUCKS! 🙂
Easy to maneuver – Small apartment dwellers, you know the deal, navigating the corners, the little spaces and what not is difficult. The V6 Cordless makes it simple. Oh so simple.
Easy to clean – This took us a short while to figure out, but it’s basically you press a button over the trash can and all the gunk comes out.
There are couple caveats to mention, but they are not enough to warrant not buying the vacuum:
Filter – The purple filter falls out easily. It doesn’t lock in so if you turn the vacuum head, the filter can come flying out. I feel Dyson wasted their R&D time on making the wall hanging sleek but forgetting to keep the filter in place.
Power Jamming – We had this happen twice. Because the brush nozzle pieces require power from the main source, the connector holes can backup with little bits of dust and cause the power delivery to fail. Easiest way to clean is to use a Q-tip, tear off the soft cotton part, and clean the connectors. All good after!
So, for you new couples who want a really easy to clean your house, yes add this to your registry. Or just buy it. You’ll never have “squeed” with joy with any household appliance like you will with the V6 Cordless. While pricy at $599, it will be one of the best investments you can make.
Disclaimer: We received a Dyson V6 vacuum to test out as part of the review from Best Buy.
