The brand new LG G4 smartphone is sleek, functional, and high performing.
Being an avid fangirl of another phone manufacturer (won’t say who, but it’s name is synonymous with a fruit), I was excited to test out the LG G4 phone. I haven’t used an Android phone in years and relished the opportunity to see how far things have come in the mobile landscape.
What I love about this phone is the camera. At an f/1.8 aperture, it’s beautiful for low light settings. And for the photographer in you, the manual setting allows you to edit ISO, shutter speed, and aperture, and temperature, all important when shooting in poor lighting conditions or speed shooting.

Manual setting in very poor lighting:
Think, all those irritating pics you take at your cousin’s wedding because it was poorly lit with super warm lights.
And selfies now can be clearer, brighter, and better with an 8MP camera.

My favorite setting of all is the RAW shoot mode. Overkill for the average consumer, but the best on the market for amateur and pro photographers.
Here are a few comparison photos I took:
Auto setting – little darker, not as bright
Manual setting – brighter and warmer
The display is one of the only droid phones I’ve seen that rivals the iPhone. For the most part, few Android could deliver the contrast, brightness, and depth of color.
I also lent the phone to my dad for the month to use (we activated his phone as well to be on the network). Here were his pros and cons:
Pros:
Camera – Great depth and color and easy to use for someone who can’t take photos
Display – Bright, vivid and beautiful
Storage – You can upgrade the storage to 2TB with micro SD card
Charging – Wireless charging and replaceable battery. Why has it taken so long to get to wireless charging!
Cons:
On/off switch + volume control – It’s less of a total turn-off and more of an aesthetic/confusing problem. The switch is on the back of the phone, just below the camera lens. With all other phones having the button on the side, this is a risky move to change the position entirely.
Leather backing – it is genuine leather but doesn’t quite feel like it. Again, not a major negative, but I would choose a different back plate.

Disclosure: This blog was given an LG G4 phone to test out as part of the compensation.
