Hi lovelies! We’re back with part II of our Indo-Canadian bride, Gurpreet and her planning stories. If you missed her intro piece, check it out here.
Being South Asian is a gift and a curse. Why a curse you ask? Try planning a week long wedding! I am a very detail-oriented girl, planning 4-5 events hasn’t been a breeze. I just recently had my engagement ceremony which I had been planning for 7 months, it was a blast to say the least. Thankfully I had some of the greatest vendors who made planning a breeze. In today’s post, I’ll be crediting the vendors Bram and I have used for our engagement.
We all know choosing a makeup artist is one of the hardest decisions we can make. This can make or break your entire look. Anyone who lives in Toronto has heard of or knows Shirley Wu, Jenny Wu and Maggie Wu, the make up wiz’s from Beauty Concept Salon & Spa. I have dreamed about getting dolled up by these ladies since I was a kid! So to actually see it happen- was kind of surreal! Jenny Wu made me feel like a princess. She discussed what hair/make up she was going to do and then went to work! I was beyond satisfied with her work. Not one person walked past me without complementing me. The Wu sisters made me feel as if I was one of their own. I am so grateful I chose to go with them and have already booked them for my wedding. Future Toronto Brides- look no further, trust me!
Enough about the make up! I also had a great experience with my decor vendor. Xclusive Designs very own Sukhi who helped Bram and I create the perfect backdrop to set the ambiance for our engagement. She worked with us to choose the colors, fabrics and design. Keep in mind that your guest will be staring at your backdrop for the good first half of the event, make it worth it! I’ve added some photos of our decor for you to stare at 😉
Our videographers AVP Studios were amazing to say the least! These guys truly exceeded our expectations, watching the finished video you can see the chemistry between the two videographers as they captured some beautiful moments from great angles. They are very easy guys to work with and very approachable. They’re so good that they’re booked on our wedding date! We would book them in a heartbeat again if they were available. Two words: Professional & Artistic!
We hired Sukha from Shootmestudios to do our engagement ceremony and our engagement shoot. Sukha did a fantastic job on our engagement shoot as well as our engagement party pictures. Having Sukha just on his own was enough to capture our 250-300 guests engagement ceremony. The pictures turned out fantastic! I will be posting some of his work below.
DJ! What’s a party without a DJ? We hired Bobby from Harmony Sound & Lighting. Boy, did he deliver! My closest friends will tell you that I’m not quite the dancer. However, this all changed when Bobby put his hands on those turntables. Everyone had a great night dancing thanks to him! He is so good at what he does- we hired him for our wedding too.
Verdi Convention Centre located in Mississauga is where our engagement, wedding and pre-events are booked. Need I say more? These guys are easy to work with and hold the key to a beautiful venue! Thank you Verdi for your hospitality. Last but not least! My stationary and favors were made by myself! I have always been very crafty but decided to actually use this talent to create some pieces for my own event.
Ladies- I would say 80% of your event is your vendors, choose wisely! I hope this was helpful to you Toronto brides. In my next post, I’ll be talking more about the ring wedding planning!
Have a great day!
