The Proposal & The Ring
Really- this should’ve been my first post but better late than never, right? I left the proposal and the ring out but let’s get to it!
Now ladies, if you’re anything like me, you’ve watched those romantic proposal videos over and over again in hopes that yours will someday be that way. Am I right? I’m guilty of this- and I’m guilty of putting the pressure on my fiancé too (sorry Bram)
Bram was sweet enough to take me to NYC for my birthday. We stayed there for 4 nights and on the 3rd night (yep, kept me on my toes) he proposed to me in Brooklyn. It caught me by surprise because I almost gave up thinking he didn’t plan to propose. Right after he popped the question we were off to the Late Night Show with Jimmy Fallon. Talk about a great day, huh?
Bram and I knew we would get married someday and when we started talking about marriage, I started flooding his Instagram with “subtle” hints by tagging him in “diamondboi” rings. Funny enough, I tagged him so much that the owner of Diamondboi (Nuno) knew exactly who we were when we came to see him (mission accomplished?).
A lot of you may have heard of Diamondboi, I almost question you if you haven’t. Nuno is thee most talented and thorough jeweler one could ask for. Now, I know a lot of people shy away from Diamondboi thinking he’s too “pricey” but I’m here to tell you that is not exactly true. You see, Nuno will work with you to create what you want- but you’ve got to be realistic (you can’t get a 2 carat diamond on a 2k budget, that’s just not happening). He goes through the clarity, color and cut with you once you sit down to make sure you’re informed. The big thing that Bram and I respect about Nuno is his unwillingness to compromise his brand by putting his name to a substandard piece of work. Rest assured that Nuno will work with you to craft a quality ring within your budget. Nuno put 7 diamonds on each side of the stone to represent the month of July and an “8” on the bridge to signify our anniversary/wedding date. He also incorporated our initials in the center of the 8 which also doubles as an infinity sign. How neat? I’ll be attaching pictures.
My advice for you brides-to-be is this:
-Talk about a realistic budget with your partner and make sure you both agree
-Try on different shapes, some shapes suit certain fingers (ex: pear shape is great for long fingers)
-Educate yourself on the three C’s
-Keep in mind that you will have this ring forever! Sometimes a classic look goes a long way
-Find ways to personalize your ring, it’s more meaningful
-Find jeweler who is honest and will educate you
