Lovelies! This has got to be one of the best products I’ve used. As part of the Best Buy Ambassador program, I have had the chance to test out some great electronic goodies including a Toshiba tablet laptop, Roomba, Samsung iRobot, and the LG phone to name a few.
Today comes yet another fabulous electro goodness. Netgear, the company we all know that makes routers, also makes security cameras. Arlo, the first wireless home security camera, is so easy to set-up, you’ll be done faster than it takes you to walk down the wedding aisle.
What Arlo can be used for:
Vacation – no reason to worry when you’re on the honeymoon and want to make sure no thief steals all the wedding presents!
Baby – to watch over your most precious package. Sleeping, playing, spending time with a nanny or babysitter, you deserve peace of mind and one less thing to worry about.
Parents – Now you can spy on your parents!
Business – Keep your company safe
For me, I use Arlo to watch the baby. Now that we have help at home, it’s become incredibly important to keep an eye on him, the nanny, and even our bunnies. Since our place is pretty small, four Arlo cameras are perfect.
We set up one camera in the bedroom, two in the living room and the fourth in the spare room.
Here’s what I learned about the setting Arlo up in your home:
Don’t setup the camera too high up in a room – This isn’t a CCTV camera you see in the top corner of the room. The camera works best midway up the wall. The camera has a slight fisheye vision so you don’t need to hang it from the ceiling corner.
Mount the camera – to keep it from moving, mount Arlo to the magnetic mount it came with. The mount is a half dome and even though you will screw it into the wall, the camera itself can be moved because it’s magnetically attached. Cool, no?
Don’t record 24/7 – unless you need to, there’s no reason to record the cameras 24 hours a day (unless you’re on vacation, maybe). Set up each camera for a movement allowance.
Since I’m not personally sharing any of my videos with you, because that’s just creepy, I have a hilarious clip on post-Thanksgiving leftovers and who steals them.
Guarding Thanksgiving leftovers just got way easier with a 100% wire-free security camera https://t.co/ofReAI2A3B

Extra benefits of Arlo:
For fun, we tried out one of the cameras on the balconies to look out so we could see outdoor night vision. It was amazing! Most of the time night vision cameras are a poor rendition of green paint, but the Arlos’ nighttime recording act just like daytime cameras; clean, crisp, sharp.
Store data to the cloud. After your free trial, you should sign up to store an unlimited amount of data to the cloud. The only caveat is, once in the cloud, anything can be found (no matter how tight security is). Netgears has AES-128 bit encryption and Transport Layer Security (TLS) security, some of the toughest on the market, but that doesn’t mean it’s not foolproof.
No matter how you want to place the cameras, pairing the Arlos to home base is easy. Seriously easy to get the system live with the cameras within a few minutes that you’ll wish these were around forever.
Waterproof – They’re waterproof. Need I say more?
The best feature of Arlo though is the small, sleek design that is truly wireless. Wireless internet connection and wireless power. Couple that with HD quality video recording, you have a security camera that is a force to be reckoned with. If it wasn’t for Arlo, I’d never know how truly safe my home, and my family, truly are.
