Hello my wedding lovers! We have such a fun treat for you this morning in the form of a lovely and grand traditional Hindu wedding. Meet Ashveena and Nikhil, who live in the San Francisco area. How crazy is this—their two families have known each other for over 20 years. Ashveena has been friends with Nikhil’s sister for ages, so Nikhil and Ashveena got to know each other. One day, something connected with the two of them and the rest is history!
We talked to Heather Gubics, media manager for Anais Event Planning and Design, who helped put together the happy couple’s big day.
Ashveena, who is a research coordinator at Children’s Hospital in Oakland, CA and Nikhil, who is a producer at Microsoft, had their first date when Nikhil picked Ashveena up from the airport and took her home to hang out with her dad. The next day, they both went on a date to a friend’s birthday party.
Nikhil proposed while on vacation with Ashveena in Bali—two hours after they landed! How sweet is it that he just couldn’t wait any longer?
Their sangeet was held at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco a day before their wedding. The wedding was a traditional Hindu ceremony and the reception was formal with plated dining service. There was of course a gorgeous mandap for the ceremony and the reception showed off beautiful decorations and centerpieces.
Bride Ashveena said, “The food, drinks and people are what makes a wedding great!” She also mentioned that their families are both “very loving and involved.” With all that and their custom-designed wedding cake (seriously…how perfect is it?!) what’s not to love about this wedding?
Thank you, Ashveena & Nikhil! Congratulations and best wishes.
