This classic Sikh wedding in the heart of Chandigarh was something special. The family planned every detail, from the hanging paper lanterns to the massive tented space. It was sweet and beautiful.
Bride Zubina tells us how they pulled it off and ohh, you’ll love her classic wedding outfits.
We did not have any particular theme for our wedding. I wanted to be Sikh wedding and you know when it is in Punjab, it automatically becomes big wedding! My wedding was five days long. I wanted everyone to enjoy and have a good time.
What was the hardest part about wedding planning?
For me it was not hardest at all. We did not have any wedding planner or any help like that. So it was all my parents doing everything from sending out the invites to everything. Even my clothing also.
Did you do any DIY (do it yourself)at the wedding?
Every single thing was done by my parents and husband which made every little thing special throughout.
What was your favorite part of the wedding?
My favorite part was all our families came together to celebrate our big day.
I wanted to be an old school Sikh bride where they wore long shirts with gharas with mughal inspired jewelry. My mom made it all possible. Jas (my designer) and mom designed every single outfit and as well as the jewelry. I was abroad so it was all done by my mom.
All my family and friends traveled from outside India just for my wedding.
My other favorite moment was the first look; we got to be with each other after our anand karaj. It was a calm and happy feeling.
What advice do you have for future brides/grooms-to-be?
Be independent and interdependent.
Make time for yourself so you can continue to do the things you are passionate about. Getting married does not mean you can not continue doing the things you love. Dedicate time to spend with your spouse so you can grow together as a couple. This is what husband lets me do.
Always remember your I becomes We.
