We are back with the conclusion of Trisha and Barinder’s magnificent wedding with the reception. Featuring large backdrops of damask designs and lacy cutouts, the theme was royal blue with hints of purples and creams.
Trisha continues her wedding story with us.
What DIY did you do?
We had our initials, TBP cutout in lattice wood, which was placed by the photobooth area at the Buddhist temple. For our reception, we had created a dance for our family medley. My bridesmaids started it off, then our siblings, then our parents, then our close cousins, and finally the newlywed couple! It was a great time planning and rehearsing!
Probably why I loved planning our wedding, the nights with family and friends to laugh and make memories with. We also had one of my cousins sing and play the guitar to “All of Me” by John Legend with some Hindi lyrics as well. This was done for our first dance as Mr. & Mrs.
What was your favorite part of wedding?
Our favourite part was our entrance to our reception. We came in to a beat both my husband and I always listened to when we were just best friends, Higher Ground. We were both on his Ducati Streetfighter and just ripped through a paper reading our initial “TBP” when the beat dropped and the crowd was full of energy.
When we drove in to the hall, just seeing all the family and friends standing, cheering us on, all that positive energy was the best feeling. To see so many families coming from far and near just for us, really touched both of us and this moment will always be cherished.
What advice do you have for future brides and grooms?
1) Hire a really good wedding planner. They really can do wonders! As much as you may love planning and doing things yourself with the help of family and friends, wedding planners make sure to have every detail accounted for and done on time. They send you reminders on things you may forget about. I got lucky with The Colour Red because it was a team of four that were constantly on top of everything. With two weddings and a big reception full of entertainment, they did an incredible job in keeping any hiccups hidden from guests and making everything go smooth.
2) Enjoy every moment of all the wedding events. We plan these wedding events for a year and the event itself goes by so quick. On the day of the wedding, I had so many things going the wrong way. Part of my outdoor wedding décor, the arch had fallen over and broke due to high winds before the event started. Chairs and tables couldn’t be set up because it was raining. There will always be something or the other, nothing will go exactly the way you had planned. With that thought in mind,
I did not let that ruin our wedding day. You don’t get these moments again, so why worry? Just enjoy the moments with the family and friends that are there for you. Make the best out of every situation.
3) Compromise. Everyone has their wants and needs. Yes, it’s your wedding, but your families should also have some say as it’s a big day for them too. There were things my husband wanted, which I didn’t like, and vice versa. We were able to compromise and everything turned out perfect. Just remember, everything will work out in the end.
Weddings can be stressful. There were so many things I didn’t think would go wrong that went wrong. One I would like to mention is when the weather didn’t hold up on the wedding day, Naphisha from The Perfect Setting had created a customer flower wall for our photobooth area, but we couldn’t use it due to the weather. Of course I was disheartened about it, but I didn’t let that ruin my day. It’s just a flower wall.
However, the next day at the reception, Naphisha went out of her way and personally came to the venue to upgrade all my centerpieces, my family tables and cake tables. She added more details than what was on the contract, just to make sure she was able to put a smile on my face! It was the sweetest when I walked in and took a look for the first time and she surprised me! Loved the décor!
Thank you so much for sharing your wedding with us! Don’t forget to catch earlier features with the Sikh wedding and the Buddhist wedding.
