Shantanu and Nikhil brought the romance from the Renaissance and Baroque eras. From brocades to floating tullys and from soft sweet golds to bold greens and blues, their collection was most definitely unique.
The show was opened by the dashing Siddharth Mallya, son of billionaire tycoon Vijay Mallya, who strutted down the ramp in a red printed bundgala with glittering hem and cuffs.
The eight menswear creations that followed were bold colors; deep blue kurta jacket, brocade Jodhpuri coat, purple high neck velvet jacket with tiny green embroidery, wine/gold sherwani, and printed orange/black velvet jacket. Printed silk scarves added a touch of stylish adventure to the men’s creations, a must have look for 2013 weddings.
The only disappointing male out was the purple and green Joker look. We don’t ever want a man to look like Joker; perhaps unless he was meant to be the village idiot.
The bridal wear for women was a glittering array of lehengas, cholis and dupattas in tulle, French chantilly lace, silk, satin and brocade. Brocade and chantilly lace set the outfits from all others. Bias cut paneled lehengas swirled down the ramp in jewel tones of reds, wines, golds, bright greens, electric blues, pinks, fuchsias, nudes and peachs.
The collection revolved around lacy peplums, flared sleeves, and ruffled petticoats which added an old world charm. The creations floated down the isle like a castle in the sky.
Emerald Sari – The Pantone Color of the Year
The most gorgeous gown was the layer tulle white wedding dress dazzling with intricate zardozi and crystal embellishments.
