One of the coolest things we got to do while being pregnant with baby #2 is to have maternity photos taken. Not just any pregnancy photos, but ones that showed our family’s growth through the years. Two years earlier, we took similar maternity photos, and I wanted to recreate that photo shoot, from the outfits to the jewelry.
I reached out to my wedding professional friends in the Bay Area to see if they were interested.
They were! And let me tell you that if you have the chance to take your maternity pics, first year smash cake photos, and maternity photos with baby #2 in the same place, DO IT. The whole time progression series is so cool and totally worth the nitty gritty madness planning.
These photos are magical. We recreated several of the same shots with the same clothes at the same venue. Three years of our lives brought together into one series.
Tami Weis of Fancy Fig Photography, a wedding/family photo company based in Marin, California. Her style is light and airy and fun. You’re just going to fall with her photography. So.in.love.
Timsi of TM’s Makeup Artistry, a BF Redbook member, did my hair and makeup.
Sabreena of Ritual by Design in San Francisco did the belly mehendi. Her henna is amazing. She does bridal mehendi and also pregnancy henna.
We utilized many of the same “props” (real toys and decor from home) because the venue, The Lighthouse at Glen Cove in Vallejo, is so gorgeous, you don’t need to be decor heavy.
But we all do love are balloons. Nicole of Lifted Balloons put together the most fun blue and pink matching balloons set for us.
Aren’t these the happiest balloons!
If you’re looking to have creative family photos that show the transition over time, try these out. You don’t have to do it when you’re pregnant, you can do them each year on your anniversary or with your parents. These time lapse are priceless and I couldn’t be happier to have these memories now.
