Pallavi Jaikishan brought out her signature styles at the Mumbai Aamby Valley India Bridal Fashion Week this week.
Similar to her daughter, Bhairavi, Pallavi brings out the femininity and flowers in her bridal collections. I cannot claim to be a fan of her brightly colored roses, but this look is unmistakably hers.
Calling the collection Ashrafiyan, Pallavi worked around three inspirations: golden nuggets, eternal splendor, and sitare.
Golden Nuggets
Gold was the center of attraction, in shades of mustard and deep yellow. Combined with twinkling chartreuse green French sequins, the result was ultra glamorous. Using tulle lavishly, Pallavi embellished it with French tape and turned into flowers by adding silk tape and bunches of resham blossoms.
The color story moved from dusty pink to dove blue for the seductive saris, sexy cholis, luxurious lehengas and flowy ornate coats.
Eternal Splendor
This segment was devoted to India’s signature attire – the sari. Pallavi’s Upada sari was presented in pastels and sparkled with crystals, sequins and French tape all cleverly and creatively used.
Silver and gold embroidery added to the beauty of the georgette saris as they clung around the models. Net saris had heavy gold lace borders, while the pallavs were edged with rows of tassels.
Sitare
The final collection was what brides dream about when they want a Pallavi Jaikishan creation. It was a line of the most exquisite lehengas, cholis and dupattas encrusted with her magnificent embroidery.
Opening the section with a pale green brocade lehenga with floral embroidery and a heavy zari border; Pallavi moved to red/gold for bridal wear encrusted with zari and highlighted with circular floral bunches in resham. Dupattas were bordered with gold fragile scallops, while flowers appeared on the hemlines in clusters.
The paneled and bias cut silhouettes for the lehengas with a gentle flounce at the hem gave an old world charm to the bridal wear. The final glittering silver, crystal and sequin creation with bursts of flowers over the lehenga teamed, with a shimmering blouse and a pale pink net dupatta. It was a grand end to a beautiful bridal presentation.
