When I was writing this piece, I realized I was going against some of my own advice: not wearing white to a wedding, especially if you are the bride.
But my old fashioned ways are outdated. With so many couples opting for fusion or inter-ethnic styles, white is classic and beautiful. It doesn’t have to be funerary. A white bridal gown matched with a kundan necklace will make you a beautiful bride. With that in mind, discuss with your family if you can/should wear an all white wedding sari/lengha. Some family members may disagree.
If your family is positive and happy about wearing a white wedding dress, then you are in luck for some very beautiful brides wearing white, but still celebrating their South Asian roots. And be sure to check out our earlier inspiration post about East Meets West – White.
