Falguni and Shane Peacock are the badasses of the Indian fashion world. They make couture pieces for Lady Gaga, Paris Hilton, and just about every IT and rock celebrity.
And so, when it comes to their bridal collection, the only thing that comes to mind is, “OMG, WTF are they going to do this year?” Last year, the models had crazy, giant eyelashes with big, black eyeshadow. One part racoon, one part peacock.
Sadly, this year wasn’t the year they blasted our fashion norms to bit, that accolade goes to Manish Arora for his neon Venetian masked collection at Delhi Couture Week. The 2013 Aamby Valley Bridal Collection from the Peacocks was decidedly pedestrian.
Don’t get me wrong, the outfits were amazing. But really, a Garden of Eden theme? There’s so much to work with with that kind of theme! Instead they put a bunch of silly head wreaths on the models, and those weren’t well constructed or beautiful in any way, a bunch of green vines on the walls, and some feathers on the outfits. Oh, and don’t forget metal peplums.
Yea, metal peplums. Okay, the metal peplums was the only inspiring piece of the outfits that pushed the border of comfort and did something completely different than other designers’ take on the peplum.
Superstar Neha Dhupia looked fabulous in the black floral print dress with tulle sleeves and metal peplum.
These two models also had it going on.
Check out those nice layers of tulle!
But overall, it wasn’t the most exciting collection from the duo and I wasn’t inspired to go screaming in the streets. Their collection reminded of Shantanu Nikhil wed Bhairavi Jaikishan and this was their child.
Enough of my bantering, what did you all think?
